Councilwoman Lydia Salazar Wibert has proven herself over the past two years as she has promoted Fontana’s ongoing revitalization — something she has done in and out of public office for 20 years. When elected in 2012, she will continue to:
- Make public safety the city’s number one priority and adequately fund police and fire.
- Leverage Fontana’s assets as a transportation hub to keep and attract more business and grow jobs.
- Actively promote Fontana’s diverse economy while emphasizing the city’s strengths in manufacturing and transportation.
- Ensure Fontana gets its fair share of government funding for infrastructure improvements and new technology ventures.
- Promote the city’s revitalization effort with smart, sustainable development that creates jobs, adds green spaces and provides affordable housing.
- Continue to expand after-school remedial, vocation and enrichment programs.
- Establish education/business partnerships to encourage local companies to offer mentoring and intern/placement programs.
- Secure ongoing funding for Fontana Leadership Intervention Program to help at-risk youth succeed.
- Save threatened pre-school programs through grants or other funding.
- Ensure that the new Senior Community Center offers needed wellness programs.
- Work with banks to save homes and businesses from foreclosure; ensure proper maintenance of vacant properties.
- Maintain a balanced budget and provide accountable, transparent city government.
